Complete Breakdown of the 'Final Star Wars: The Force Awakens' Trailer

Oh, my stars, did you see that new trailer for The Force Awakens? Now with just under 2 months left until we can see it in theaters, we'll have to disect the trailer as much as possible.  Here's what we can see in this new trailer.

Rey The Scavenger

We know very little about Rey. We don't even know her last name, but we do know she's a scanenger on Jakku.

Here she is inside of what has to be the downed Star Destroyer from the first trailer (possibly the Star Destroyer from the book Lost Stars, go read it).

"Who are you?" -Maz Kanata (Lupita Nyong'o)

I am no one. -Rey (Daisy Ridley)

There's been all sorts of speculation about Rey and whether she has ties to a classic Star Wars family or not, but here she's shown as an independent scavenger nobody, but she does seem to have acquired Poe Dameron's droid, BB-8.

Jakku's sandy landscape with a ship taking off in the background.

Jakku market. Likely where some of our characters first meet.

Lucasfilm

Every time The Force Awakens is mentioned, it is alongside the Disney name, but it's important to notice that the Disney brand is nowhere to be seen on this trailer.  Lucasfilm still owns Star Wars, and just because Disney bought Lucasfilm doesn't make Star Wars movies Disney movies.

Starkiller Base and The First Order

We got to see what appears to be Starkiller Base from afar on the new official poster, but here's a shot (which we've seen before) of the First Order Stormtroopers listening to a Kylo Ren speech.

"I was raised to do one thing" -Finn (John Boyega)

Another character without a last name.  We have seen Finn both in and out of his Stormtrooper armor, but this line from him suggests that he was raised in The First Order and has likely devoted his life (to this point) to serving its cause.

"But I've got nothing to fight for."

Flash back to the first image from the first trailer when Finn comes gasping into frame.  It appears we have some dots connected now, assuming it's Finn going down in this TIE.

A note on the visuals.  This planet looks like a shot right out of the Original Trilogy.  This movie is gorgeous.

Finn approaching what appears to be the aforementioned Jakku market.

"Nothing will stand in our way" -Kylo Ren (Adam Driver)

Say what you will about the idea of a new superweapon being recycled and boring.  This doesn't loo recycled or boring.

You know what else doesn't look boring? Kylo Ren.

"I will finish..."

"What you started."

The book Star Wars: Aftermath set up the idea that there were some dark side cultists tracking down Vader's saber and sort of obsessing over him in general.  I'd say this falls into that category.

Kylo Ren is scary creepy awesome.

And he captures Poe Dameron!  One can't help but wonder if this is related to how Rey ends up with BB-8 and Finn ends up on Jakku...

Those trees are goners.

"There are stories about what happened" -Rey

Well, something big has clearly happened between Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens if those events are already shrouded in mystery.

A note on the music.  John Williams is amazing.  This is gorgeous.

The Millenium Falcon is also gorgeous.

"It's true." -Han Solo

"All of it."

This is shaping up to be an old man Solo story.

The lightspeed/hyperspace effects are brilliantly adapted with newer visuals

Knights of Ren?

"The Dark Side..." -Han Solo

We saw some atmospheric combat in Hoth, but this movie clearly has quite a bit that we haven't gotten from any of the other 6 films.

"The Jedi..."

This looks like something right out of the Rogue Squadron video game.

"They're real."

Remember that "Hokey religions and anicient weapons are no match for a good blaster at your side, kid" quotation from A New Hope?  Well, he's apparently seen some stuff since then.

Also, "They're real."  They. Are. Real.  All three of those words are significant.  They = plural.  Are = present tense.  Real.  We have yet to see Luke, but maybe we have a new Jedi order in hiding in this movie.

Is this Luke?  We have yet to see Luke.  The hand suggests maybe, but it's different from Luke's mechanical hand.  Something is up with Luke and I don't think we're going to find out about it until we are sitting in a theater on December 17th (assuming you got your ticket before Star Wars killed Fandango).

Captain Phasma.  Still a mystery. Still badass.

This looks like it's in the woods where Finn and Kylo fight...

"The Force" -Leia (Carrie Fisher)

BB-8 in Poe's X-Wing!

"It's calling to you."

We saw Leia receiving Anakin's old lightsaber in the last trailer.  It'll be interesting to see just how in tune she is with The Force here.

Another atmospheric battle  Or is it the same one.  There's grass on the right bottom corner.  It looks like we may have a planet with some harsh climate changes.

I don't know what planet is what anymore.

He's a goner.

That courier droid.

Han and Leia! All is well. This is all everyone wanted to see.

Finn with Luke's lightsaber.

Finn's about to die.  Now would be a good time for Luke to show up.

"It's calling to you..."

December is too long.  Which shot is your favorite?  Any crazy theories?  Fire away, we need to kill time until we can actually watch this darned movie!
