Full Batman V Superman Teaser Trailer Breakdown

After announcing a special IMAX trailer screening Wednesday night, it was only mildly unsurprising when a cell phone recorded version of the Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice trailer leaked to the internet on Friday.  As Marvel did with the first Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer, DC also released the full HD version of the Batman V Superman trailer in response, only it appears that IMAX screening ticket holders may still have something special in store.

Regardless, the trailer gave some beautiful sound and footage for fans.  You can find the official trailer post here, with a full breakdown found below.

The trailer opens with a shot panning Metropolis.  We can see a construction crane in the background and a statue of Superman in the foreground.  The voiceovers establish the divided opinion on Superman's arrival.
"Is it really surprising that the most powerful man in the world should be a figure of controversy?" -Charlie Rose

"We, as a population on this planet, have been looking for a savior."

"We're talking about a being whose very existence challenge our own sense of priority in the universe." -Neil deGrasse Tyson

"Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." -Holly Hunter's character (a US Senator)
Also, these soldiers have Superman's symbol on their arm. What's with that?

"We know better now, don't we?  Devil's don't come from hell beneath us." -Lex Luthor""No, they come from the sky." -Holly Hunter

"The wold is so caught up with what he can do, that no one has asked what he should do." -Holly Hunter

After the audio clips, a crowd is heard chanting "Go home! Go home!" before the lights reveal the statue created in Superman's honor has "FALSE GOD" painted across the Kryptonian symbol for hope on his chest.

"That's how it starts.  The fever. The rage.  The feeling of... powerlessness.  It turns good men... cruel." -Alfred

This first shot of the cape and cowl shows a very worn Batsuit, indicating that Batman has been around for years already.  The suit is also clearly a pretty stubborn armor, as it looks like many of the scars are from knuves and other sharp objects.

The next shot is very intersting, as there is very little context provided.  It appears to be an abandoned building in Gotham.  Batman is holding some sort of long item, but it's not clear what it is.  The pillars are covered with mostly innocuous graffiti, except for the lone question mark that appears to be a Riddler easter egg.

Here's our first shot of the Batplane, or whatever this iteration is called.  This scene appears to be at the docks where set pictures showed overturned boats and other debris indicating that there may be an Aquaman introduction here.

The shot of the Batmobile looks like it likely occurs at a different time and place, but the cuts make it look like both vehicles are in action at the same time.  Either way, it's not a stretch to suggest that Batman's toys can operate as drones.

Here's the man, the myth, the legend himself.  Batfleck looks absolutely massive in this picture.  The rubble here resembles the rubble seen in the Wonder Woman introduction picture, so it's possible this happens in a similar place.

Here's the classic hero shot of Batman looking over the city.  One of many absolutely gorgeous shots in the teaser.  It looks like Batman's holding on to an antenna on top of the building, but after a closer look, it may in fact be a sniper rifle, which calls a back to a very similar scene in The Dark Knight Returns where he uses a sniper as more of a long distance grappling hook.

Fans already saw Batman's mech suit/armor in the footage from Comic-Con last year, but this is definitely a much clearer picture.  There's not much of note, except the fact that you can see the regular mask on underneath, meaning this goes on over the normal Batsuit.

"Tell me, do you bleed?" -Batman
After Christian Bale's turn as the Dark Knight, fans have wondered how Ben Affleck will do "the Batman voice."  Our first sample comes in the form of a modulated voice presumable amplified by the armor suit, but it definitely has a very steely and commanding tone.

The next several cuts set up the face off.  First we have Batman looking up at Superman, then we have superman looking down at Batman.  It's reminiscent of a western square off before a duel.

"You will."
This last shot has Superman dropping down and we see the two facing off on equal footing.   Based on Batman's words here, Batman is clearly questioning the presumption that Superman is god like.  Despite Superman's clear physical advantage, it's really exciting to see a shot like this last one that makes both heroes appear powerful and on relatively similar footing.

The wait for the trailer was long enough, now the wait for the actual movie is going to be even harder!  What did you think of the trailer?  Did you spot anything significant not mentioned above?  Call it out in the comments!
