Deadpool Test Footage Officially Released

The Deadpool movie has been in production limbo for about 6 years, but fans of the character recently got a tease in the best way. Some test footage with a CGI deadpool (voiced by Ryan Reynolds) recently leaked online and has now been made officially available.

The video has just about everything you could want from Deadpool, from drawing with crayons, to excessive violence, to some 4th wall breaking. Why Fox hasn't moved on this film yet is a mystery, but maybe fan reaction to this clip will help push it towards that green light at the end of the tunnel.

Deadpool, played by Ryan Reynolds, was technically included in X-Men Origins: Wolverine, but the character was so drastically altered that many fans have rejected the entire movie (although there may be other reasons for that as well). However, after the timeline altering events of X-Men: Days of Future Past, it's reasonable for Fox to keep Deadpool in its existing universe, but keep him closer to his comic origins.

You may notice at the very end of the footage that Deadpool waves at the camera and says "Hey Tom!", which many people assumes is almost a taunt towards Tom Rothman, an executive at Fox at the time, as an example of Deadpool's frequent 4th wall breaking.

It would be hilarious for this concept to get incorporated into a larger movies, where you can have interactions such as: Deadpool: "Wow, this stuff doesn't hold up nearly as well as Stark tech." Other Character: "What?" Deadpool: "Oops, nevermind. Ask Marvel Studios." Other Character: "I'm sorry..?" Deadpool: "Nevermind..."

Unfortunately, such a movie will still be years off, but until then, we can watch this test footage and dream.
